Lazio coach Inzaghi: Gasperini the best in the countryby Carlos Volcano10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveLazio coach Simone Inzaghi believes Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini is the best in the country. The two teams meet on Monday.Inzaghi said, “We know what we’ll be facing in Bergamo: an excellent team with a top-notch Coach, who has my unqualified respect. Alongside (Juventus boss Max) Allegri, he is the best in Italy.”Ever since I’ve trained in Serie A, I’ve been locking horns with Atalanta. That’s thanks to Gasperini’s work, which has consistently kept the team high up in the standings.”For our own part, we’ve been short of something in our process of development. It’s a problem that every other team has to deal with too, with the exception of Juventus.” About the authorCarlos VolcanoShare the loveHave your say

Larry Johnson, the defensive line and assistant head coach at Ohio State University, refuses to accept mediocrity from his players. He expects nothing but the effort to be extraordinary. In an inspiring pump up speech to the Buckeyes, Larry Johnson motivated the team to push past the edge – past slacking performance – and become elite. He explains that elite “is not going to the edge and saying, ‘I’m average, I’m good for the day.’” With the team’s full focus in his grasp, the coach proclaims, “We got a chance to step on the edge…To be elite, you’ve got to take the fall. You can’t be afraid to jump…There’s no more average in this program!”Head coach Urban Meyer shared the inspirational speech on Twitter. You can watch the message below.Very lucky to have a coach like Larry Johnson on this staff to push our team past THE EDGE to become ELITE pic.twitter.com/9eD0FiEd0i— Urban Meyer (@OSUCoachMeyer) August 17, 2016If you don’t have chills, you can’t possibly be a true Buckeyes fan.Ohio State kicks off its 2016 season at home against the Bowling Green Falcons.
Alisson has seen his “brilliant” qualities saluted by former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, with the £65 million ($83m) asset at Anfield having “got better as the season has gone on”.Back in the summer of 2018, the Reds briefly made the Brazil international the most expensive shot-stopper in world football. He arrived with a big reputation and with the potential to improve at 26 years of age. Alisson has justified the faith shown in him, with securing the Premier League Golden Glove award in his debut campaign.Liverpool boasted the best defensive record in the English top-flight as they came agonisingly close to claiming a long-awaited title, before then tasting Champions League glory in Madrid.Their last line of defence is considered to have contributed significantly to an upturn in fortunes, with Kirkland among those to have hailed Alisson’s impact. The ex-Reds star, who took in a spell as goalkeeping coach with Liverpool’s women’s team in 2018-19, told the club’s official website of the current No.1: “He’s brilliant.”I didn’t see too much of him at Roma, but when he came here I watched him closely, watched training a few times.”This was near the start of the season and he’s got better as the season has gone on.”That is credit to the goalkeeper coaches – John Achterberg in particular – and the goalkeeper unit.”While Alisson’s consistency has been welcomed by most on Merseyside, his performances have left Liverpool’s back-up options with little to do.Simon Mignolet, who is an established international himself with Belgium, was restricted to just two appearances last season. He is expected to push for a move elsewhere this summer, with regular game time needed as an experienced 31-year-old, but his commitment to the Liverpool cause has been saluted.Kirkland added: “Simon deserves a lot of credit because it’s tough for him.”But he’s pushed Alisson, knowing that if he didn’t perform then Simon would be back in – and the other ‘keepers as well. That unit is brilliant.”Liverpool are being linked with other keepers during the current transfer window, with it expected that Mignolet will be granted his wish to find more minutes elsewhere. Thiago Silva wants Neymar to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, but he is eager for his Brazil team-mate to be happy.Neymar has been linked with a return to Barcelona, two years after leaving the Liga champions for PSG in a world-record €222million (£200m) move. The forward, who is missing the Copa America due to an ankle injury, is being tipped to leave PSG, while Dani Alves has confirmed he is also departing. Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Silva, whose team face Argentina in the Copa America semi-finals on Tuesday, said he hoped Neymar would stay at the Parc des Princes.”The moment is not conducive to that. We’re in another competition,” the PSG captain told a news conference.”Of course the will is huge for Ney to remain, but for him to be happy.”Dani made a statement, he’s out, we lost a great champion and friend. Unfortunately due to injury he was out of the World Cup, but always a very positive guy. I hope he’s happy where he goes.”The 27-year-old’s time at PSG has often been fraught despite picking up back-to-back Ligue 1 titles in his two seasons at the club.Early in his first season he clashed publicly with team-mate Edinson Cavani over penalty-taking duties, with the pair arguing on the pitch about which of them should take the team’s spot-kicks.And, in spite of his stellar goalscoring record, which stands at 51 goals in 58 appearances for the champions, he has been persistently dogged by rumours linking him with a return to Spain, either with Real Madrid or former club Barcelona.Ex-Barca star Pedro, who played alongside the South American before heading to Chelsea in 2015, spoke last week about his desire to see Neymar back in Barcelona colours. He told reporters at a charity event in Tenerife when quizzed on the rumours that the Brazilian star could be about to make a return: “Of course he can come back.“Neymar, he’s a great player, one of the best in the world. He has shown that at Barca and PSG and I think everyone would see his return positively.”

While the bowl game’s name might be fun to say, not many are having fun watching the game from the stands.Weather in the area is awful, as rains fell to create a soaked environment. While the weather wasn’t great, the match-up also left quite a bit to be desired. Those two factors – and limited fan-bases – led to one of the poorest crowds of bowl season. Here’s a look at the crowd just before kickoff.Man this bowl committee really needs to get out here and sell more tickets… wait a minute… dammit. pic.twitter.com/dJYhjsbHOL— Assistant to the Traveling Secretary of #BowlSzn (@CollinSherwin) December 21, 2018Not great.Marshall and South Florida are tied at 0 after five minutes of play.
This snippet in a convo with Dr. Drake as well pic.twitter.com/32tIxaxl6a— Tim Jessberger (@tjessberger) August 2, 2019Some of this is already public – like the Mississippi State offer to Day.Obviously, none of this is verified. But you can bet that reporters are going to ask Saban if he did in fact offer Smith.Smith, after domestic violence allegations, was fired by Ohio State ahead of the 2018 season. Meyer was suspended three games for how he handled the situation. He resigned at the end of the season. Friday, Ohio State released over 2,000 texts and emails related to the Zach Smith allegations that rocked the college football world last July. There are a number of interesting bits of information included in the dump – including some Urban Meyer texts about Smith.Meyer, back in January of 2018, seemed to be upset that so many programs were trying to poach his coaches. He notes that Greg Schiano had offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State and some NFL teams. He also said that Ryan Day, who is the Ohio State coach now, had assistant jobs offered by UCLA and some NFL teams – along with the head coaching job at Mississippi State.Perhaps the most interesting, however, is that Smith was offered by Nick Saban to come and join Alabama’s staff.Meyer noted that all of the positions would have paid more than Ohio State was willing to pay. He says all but one assistant (Kerry Coombs) decided to stick around because they loved Ohio State.
